The short answer

If you want snow, target late December to mid-February. If you want flowers, plan for the first three weeks of April. If you want golden chinars, go in late October.

March – May (Tulips & Almond blossom)

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden opens for just three weeks and is best between the last week of March and mid-April.

June – August (Monsoon escape)

Kashmir doesn't see heavy rain like the plains. Gulmarg meadows are at their greenest.

September – November (Saffron and chinars)

Pampore's saffron fields bloom in late October. Chinars turn gold by Diwali.

December – February (Snow)

Gulmarg gets the heaviest snow of any commercial ski-station in India.

How to book

Plan 45–60 days out for the cheapest fares. Use Domestic DMC's Kashmir package to lock houseboat + Gulmarg gondola together.
